FLHS student, Mariana J., has used expressive brushwork in creating a dramatic mood  in her most recent oil painting. The swirling colors of the background are suggestive of the aftermath of a battle, and the winged rider and his horse are the focus of this bold work.

At 81 years young, our student Steve O. made the decision to learn how to draw.  After a few lessons on perspective, he was able to render this stunning drawing of a train.  His attention to detail and perspective are proof that it's never too late to discover hidden talents and bring your dreams to life!

This painting captures the energy and warmth of a sunny urban scene. The oil painting done by Eric T., features a lively city street in one-point perspective. 
The buildings are painted in pastel pink and orange tones that contrast against a vibrant blue sky.  The overall style is loose and expressive, with visible brushstrokes and a playful use of color.  Nice work, Eric!

Art of Excellence student, Alex  K., has created a vibrant self-portrait using chalk pastels.  She captured herself with striking red hair and wearing a cozy green sweater.  The artwork, titled " 'Red' in Green", emphasizes bold contrasts in color while showcasing the student's attention to texture and detail.  Way to go, Alexa!

Eva S., an 8-year-old student at the Art of Excellence Studio, is learning to capture the charm of a rustic still life using a reference photo and chalk pastels. With delicate blending and use of vibrant colors, Eva was able to express the different textures of the metallic pitcher and the glowing pumpkin against an impressionistic background. Nice work, Eva!

Fair Lawn HS student Nathan G. just completed this stunning oil painting which captures two grey horses at play. You can almost see them circling each other as they frolic in the snowy landscape.  With each brushstroke, Nathan brings movement and life to the scene by blending light and shadow to evoke the playful spirit of the horses.

Eighth-grade student, Stav R. just completed a portrait in oils of her grandfather. in which he  is wearing his favorite hat and a blue button-down shirt.
The artist 's careful attention to detail captures his warm expression and personality. The artist's soft brushstrokes suggest the detail of his clothing and hat.
