Advanced student, Ellen Modlin, took a photo of her own eye and represented it using a new and versatile media...watercolor crayons! Watercolor crayons give the artist a lot of control over the area of application... and they can be blended beautifully as you can see in this very realistic painting.
Fantastic work, Ellen! Beginners, Olivia Scro and Alex Gorakine have started off this year by learning contour drawing, values and simple composition. Their first still life, a variety of apple arrangements, was done in charcoal...a very forgiving medium...beginners love it! In addition, Michael Siverman has completed his first watercolor of the same subject. |
