Great job, girls!
Mariana Johnson and Rebecca Ryklin, two of my youngest students this year, have just completed their watercolor paintings of trees that are silhouetted against a winter sky. This was an exercise in using watercolor washes and in representing the diminishing branches of a tree. Great job, girls!

Dassi Mayerfeld just completed this pastel sunset on black paper This is her first time using a technique in which she colored the negative spaces in the picture... leaving the black of the paper as the tree silhouettes. Fabulous!
Ellen Modlin has created another beautiful colored pencil "painting". She used layering, blending and burnishing her colors to achieve a dramatic look to this tropical landscape. Great job Ellen!
All the Beginner Students have worked on a "Colorful Bottle Project". Working from a still life arrangement of bottles (in combinations of their choice) they first made a value drawing of the subject in which they paid attention to the reflections and lights and darks present in the subject. Then they completed the project using layers of watercolor. I think these colorful paintings are just amazing! Hannah Greenwald has just completed this watercolor of a reclining figure. She used multiple washes, glazing, and much detail work to create this composition. In addition, she worked from her own photo reference.
Great job Hannah! Ron Ledeniov has just completed his first mufti-layered mixed media painting which captures the feel of a beach as the tide is rising. His choice of colors and embellishing materials really enhance the painting. Another one for his portfolio! Nice job Ron! |
