She discovered that the translucent property of watercolor lends itself perfectly to the representation of glass objects!
The overall effect of the finished painting is very relaxing to look at.
Adult Student, Olga Landkof created this realistic still life of a collection of bottles that happen to be on the cool side of the spectrum. She discovered that the translucent property of watercolor lends itself perfectly to the representation of glass objects! The overall effect of the finished painting is very relaxing to look at.

Advanced student artist, Hannah Greenwald, captured the power of the ocean's crashing waves in this underwater perspective of a surfer. Great job!
Attention all students and fans of the Art of Excellence Studio!
I have great news...this year we will be exhibiting our work at the beautiful and spacious Fair Lawn Public Library Gallery. I have yet to receive the confirmed dates, but this was such fantastic news I couldn't wait to share it with everyone. Stay tuned to our posts for more updates. In Medieval Times camp, we had a lot of fun making masks and hats, practicing a medieval style dance and performing it in our costumes!
You can find a fun movie of the result on the Video page! What fun we had at the Art of Excellence Studio this summer!
In the "Pleinair Class" we made several field trips for on location painting and reference photos. Finished work was executed in acrylics and also watercolor. This class was truly for the serious art student! The "Colonial America" Campers had a field trip to "New Bridge Crossing", where there is a collection of Colonial-era restored homes and garden, with a personal tour guide who happened to be the Director of the Bergen County Historical Society! We made our own hand-dipped candles and tin-punch night lights in addition to weaving and making a patchwork pillow and other items! The Colonial Campers also learned how to play games that children would have played many years ago and learned that some of these simple games still exist and are challenging. When we cam to the end of the two weeks, the Campers decided they wanted to do a play, so yours truly hurriedly found and adapted "A Revolutionary Play" from a simple play written at the turn of the century (1900) by school teacher, Blanche Shoemaker. I have posted the best edited version for you to see in the newly created Video Section of this website. "Medieval Times" Campers designed and created their own unique coat of arms on a paper mache shield; built a castle; made a Knights helmet Princess Hat, Jester Hat and staff and much more. We also had a field trip to the "Lambert Castle" in Clifton which houses many beautiful works of art! As a proper conclusion to our adventure to the Middle Ages we put on a puppet show, "The Princess and the Dragon", which can also be seen in the Video Section. Looking forward to a great year! |
